Soldotna is located on the western Kenai Peninsula at the junction of Sterling and Kenai Spur Highway. It is 84 miles north of Homer, 148 miles from Anchorage and 95 miles from Seward. There are supermarkets, restaurants and drive-ins, medical and dental clinics, golf courses, a sports center and two shopping malls. Soldotna's attractions include hiking, fishing, camping, canoeing and ice fishing. Visit the Homestead Museum and the Kenai National Wildlife Refuge Visitor Center and nature trail.
Soldotna's annual events include Progress Days, which are held in July and include a parade, rodeo, community barbecues, and quilt displays, and the Kenai River Festival in June that focuses on the importance of the Kenai River watershed with free activities and educational displays.
